Frédéric Bazille and the Birth of Impressionism
Frédéric Bazille and the Birth of Impressionism
April 9 - July 9, 2017
National Gallery of Art
The works of Frédéric Bazille (1841 - 1870) remain relatively unknown despite his contributions to the birth of Impressionism. The thematic exhibition of Bazille's works beside his contemporaries, Claude Monet and Auguste Renoir, and his predecessors, Gustave Courbet and Théodore Rousseau, brings to light Bazille's place as a central figure in the Impressionist movement. Other venues, 2016 - 2017: Musée d'Orsay, Paris, France; Musée Fabre, Montpelier, France.
